August and September stuff

Cabin, county, lake, land beautiful and peaceful experience!  Javen on Campbellsville University golf team (scholarship in golf and academics). I'm dropping weight by walking, swimming, and taking 2 classes at CU:  ballroom dance and self-defense!  fun fun!

Have all the family on my door, and constantly feel their wonderful love!  I am so grateful!

Life without Blake is tough, I miss him all the time, yet I am peaceful and comfortable alone.  I have many, many good memories!

Last Waterslide Day

We have a great park complete with tiny free library!  Today is the last day for the waterslide to be open, so I flew down it 6 times after swimming pool laps!  Great fun!!
Enjoyed the block party last night and hanging with my good pal, Jane Bell!

Great Riding Weather!

Been having great riding weather. Rode over to Hodgensville for the volunteer appreciation picnic at the Abe Lincoln birthplace national Park  for the volunteer appreciation picnic.

Canada and Chicago

Spent 2 wonderful weeks in Montreal and Quebec City!  Then back and turn around trip to Chicago to meet my birth (blood) family!  (I am adopted and had the worlds greatest parents, but this is really cool!  Great people and a fun time!

The mom and 2 brothers are deceased, but I have terrific cousins and an Uncle Al who was married to my birth mom's sister.

My birth mom.

Just general update of my life

Through Ancestry.com, a blood relative found me.  I now know my birth parents names and some family history.  My birth parents and siblings are deceased, but I have  2 cool cousins, 1 surviving aunt, and am enjoying communicating with my cousin (2nd) Jess!  fun fun fun!  Mostly it's like reading a storybook.  I feel peace and contentment knowing my mom told me the story of the adoption pretty much the way it happened.  And I guess I feel more human knowing the blood family I came from.

My parents were the world's greatest, tho, I wouldn't change a thing, and I know for sure families are made of love.  Blood feels very secondary.

Last spring I hiked Alaska for a week.  This year I have a new hip!  Great experience!  I walked 2 hours after surgery and 5 weeks later am hiking 4-5 miles!  The doctor said no long flights yet (risk of blood clots) so I am going to Montreal and Quebec City last 2 weeks June.  I love discovering new places!  I actually just got back from hiking in the Big South Fork Nat'l Rec Area near Stearns, Ky.

Turns out I will be in Quebec City for the national annual festival!  yay!  I will, of course, be staying in hostels and living on trail mix and simple grocery store food I can prepare in the hostels.  I love traveling on a shoe string and meeting people from all over the world!

In all my travels, I am here to tell you there are 100% good people out there!  :)

Also, my grandson, Javen, graduating high school next week and already has college classes under his belt.  He has full scholarship to Campbellsville University with golf and academics.   All the grandkids are doing very well as is little Ayden, my great grandson.

Oh.  Also, I am now volunteering a few Saturdays a month at the Abe Lincoln  Birthplace Natl Park in Hodgensville in addition to my other volunteer activities.  I am also still scholarship chair in the local NAACP, and we will be presenting our scholarships next month.  I am helping blood drives, but not ready to deploy to disasters with the Red Cross yet.  I volunteer with Salvation Army and a few other organizations and do part time volunteer care-giving to a friend who is losing her memory and was placed in assisted living.

I have wonderful tenants here at the Chateau, and I get out to the cabin once or twice a week.

Of course, I am still enjoying riding my motorcycle, too!  Trying to motivate myself to get back to swimming at the pool.  I do procrastinate.  :-/

Thanx for reading my blog!
